Borel, Emile

Emile Borel
Borel was perhaps the first to define the notion of games of strategy. He published several papers on poker, incorporating themes of imperfect information and credibility. While his writings on game theory were rather sparse, his contributions to measure theory and probability were quite substantial. Combining these two interests, Borel suggested the existence of mixed strategies, or probability distributions over one's actions that may lead to stable play.
